SharePoint 2010 is an awesome tool. It allows you to build web sites, manage lists of data, collaborate on documents, and so much more – all done through a simple, easy to use, web interface. When you need to go beyond the native capabilities of the product, SharePoint 2010 provides the APIs and Visual Studio 2010 provides the tools that allow you to quickly and easily add customizations. Whether you’re new to SharePoint development or a seasoned veteran, this session is for you.

We’ll start with material targeted at those new to SharePoint development, covering key foundational topics (like Features and the Solutions Framework) that are vital to understanding how customizations are componentized and packaged. The remainder of the session will be devoted to an examination of the new tools in Visual Studio 2010 that make SharePoint development easier than ever before. We’ll see how the new templates, wizards and designers improve productivity by automatically managing project structure and manifest files for you . We’ll see how you can use visual designers to speed the process of building Web parts. We’ll see how the new client object models and REST services enable you to make the use of SharePoint functionality from client applications across the enterprise. Finally, we’ll see that SharePoint developers now have the same F5 deployment and debugging experience enjoyed by .NET developers for years.

Rob Windsor, ObjectSharp Consulting     Rob Windsor is a developer, trainer, writer and Senior Consultant with ObjectSharp Consulting - a Microsoft Gold Partner based in Toronto, Canada. He has over fifteen years experience developing rich-client and web applications with Delphi, VB, C# and VB.NET and is currently spending a majority of his time working with SharePoint. Rob is a member of both the INETA Speakers Bureau and the MSDN Canada Speakers Bureau and is a regular speaker at conferences, code camps, and user groups across North America and Europe. He is President of the Toronto Visual Basic User Group and has been recognized as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for his involvement in the developer community.

Shereen Qumsieh, Black Ninja Software    As co-founder and SharePoint Architect at Black Ninja Software, Shereen Qumsieh focuses on delivering SharePoint solutions for enterprise customers. For the past 5 years she has delivered solutions that require architecture design and custom development. Her extensive experience with the SharePoint product offerings allow her to deliver the right SharePoint solution that is customized to the exact requirements of the client every time. Shereen is also a prominent member of the local SharePoint community; delivering SharePoint training in Vancouver and Victoria as well as blogging at blog.qumsieh.ca. She also promotes modern web design and standards in all her projects. Her Computer Systems Technology degree was received from BCIT where she specialized in user centered design and web development.

Wesley MacDonald, LIKE 10 INC.    Wes MacDonald is a Visual Studio Team System MVP, MCTS and a Principal Consultant for LIKE 10 INC., a SharePoint Server and Team Foundation Server Consulting Firm with offices in Ottawa. As a Senior Developer/Architect with over 10 years of experience has been responsible for all aspects of software development and provides technical leadership to his clients and the .NET developer community. He also gives regular presentations on SharePoint and Team Foundation Server at the local user groups.

Jason Kaczor, Complex To Clear Solutions    Jason Kaczor has been providing technical solutions to business problems for over 18 years; covering nearly all industry sectors. He is currently an independent consultant specializing in Microsoft SharePoint and .NET technologies; architecture, design, governance, operations, training as well as custom solutions & applications. Formerly a Premier Field Engineer/Rapid Response Engineer for Microsoft Canada, he provided SharePoint and .NET expertise worldwide. While at Microsoft he was involved in several unique initiatives, including; Bad Guy Patrol and the Child Exploitation Tracking System (CETS). He has always been involved in user group and community-based initiatives, most recently a co-founder of the Calgary SharePoint User Group (CalSPUG). For fun he does the typical "old-school" geeky/nerdy activities and is trying to convince his kids that programming is "cool".
